Project Goals

  1. To support teachers’ classroom practice by studying the elements of standards-based implementation, and deepening their pedagogical and content knowledge, aligned with the Common Core State Standards – Mathematics.
  2. To support teacher leaders involved in MC² Teacher Leader Cadre by providing a space for them to enhance their leadership skills.
  3. To support district leaders and school administrators by providing a space for their own professional learning & a space to develop a strategic plan for supporting changes in practice & learning structures for job-embedded, on-going, site-based professional learning.
  4. To support students by engaging them in a week long inquiry-based experience for learning conceptual mathematics aligned to their upcoming grade level.

Project Description

MC² MathLab™ is a week-long experience that situates professional learning for teachers and administrators in K-12 classroom practice. Student lessons are facilitated by Teacher Leaders who implement a standards based learning environment in their classrooms. The experience is video streamed live to observation rooms, where teacher participants discuss, reflect & collaborate about how students learn math, effective pedagogical practices & math content.
